Id really like to start cooking and eating meats but im worried about food poisoning, how can i be extra safe?
Wednesday, February 29th, 2012- Chosen by Voters If you cook the meat until it is done and the juices run clear, you will have no problem. One of the most important things with meat is cross contamination of raw meat/juice with other foods. Make sure that you are sanitary in the kitchen and have a non-wooden cutting board for meats. (Wood is porous and the juices will soak into the board making it unsanitary for veges and other non cooked foods.) Be sure to clean up after yourself and wash you hands often. I use a little bleach in a sink of water to wipe up after handling any meat. It is the cheapest cleaner and it is the BEST. Just make some soapy water in the sink, and add a splash of liquid bleach. Use it to clean the counters, cutting boards, and everything else, too. While it is handy, don't forget the door knobs, refrigerator door, the chair backs, and the light switches. If you child is young, use it to wash the toys, too. You will be amazed how there will be fewer colds in the house. Good luck with the meat cooking.
